Les Zoltai was Fanshawe College's Director of Athletics from 1967-85. During his tenure, he guided 12 intercollegiate sport programs to 28 Provincial and 3 National titles. Zoltai was a part of the inaugural seven, a group of athletic directors that founded the OCAA in 1967. In 1975, he received an Ontario Special Achievement Award for his contributions to fitness and amateur sport. In 1987, the OCAA presented him with a Shield Award, to recognize his contributions to the association he helped create. Before Zoltai's time at Fanshawe, he was a Second Lieutenant in the Hungarian Army. He ran the 5000 metres for his home country in the 1948 Olympic Games. He also volunteered during the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal as a sport official. In 1985, The Les Zoltai Award was created and presented annually to a Fanshawe student-athlete who embodies the competitive spirit and the leadership qualities of a Fanshawe Falcon. Les Zoltai passed away in 2007 at the age of 87.
