Fanshawe Cross Country Teams Win Host Invitational

(London, Ontario) – The Falcons Cross Country teams hosted their annual invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Fanshawe Conservation Area. Both the Men's and Women's teams finished in first place in the team events.

 

Fanshawe's Seth Marcaccio (London, ON) finished first overall in the men's 8km race, with an impressive time of 25:43. Fourth year runner Sandy Freeland (Kitchener, ON) finished in second individually with a race time of 26:41 for the Falcons. As a team, the Birds had a team score of 19 points, five ahead of the runners up from St. Clair who had 24. Mohawk finished third with 50 points.

 

The Falcons Women's squad also won their 6km team event, with a score of 17, which was 18 points ahead of second place St. Clair. Wilfred Laurier Brantford had a team score of 46 to place third. Tamara DePauw (Thamesville, ON) was Fanshawe's top finisher in the race, running a time of 25:18, good for second overall. Falcon rookie Katie Rice (Ingersoll, ON) had an exciting finish to the run, ending strong to capture third with a time of 25:41.
