Fanshawe Women's Soccer Come Up Short

(London, ON) – The final score of the match between the Fanshawe Women's Soccer team (4-6) and the Redeemer Royals (5-1-4) was 3-0 in favour of the Royals on Saturday at the Fanshawe Soccer Field.

On the visitor's nine shots in the first half, Fanshawe's Diabo Tiakotierenhton (Kahnawake) displayed brilliant goalkeeping, making five saves in the first 45 minutes for the Birds. In the second, the Royals controlled the bulk of the possession. Redeemer went on to score three goals and took the game.

The Birds, who finished 6th in the West Division, will travel to Hamilton to face the Mohawk Mountaineers (6-2-2, 3rd West) in the first-round playoff game on Wednesday evening. The last time the Falcons and Mountaineers faced each other was during the first game of the regular season. Mohawk won the match 3-0. Fanshawe hopes to achieve a different outcome on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinal round.
