Falcons Women’s Soccer Team Drops CCAA National Quarterfinal

(London, Ontario) – On Wednesday afternoon in their CCAA quarterfinal, the Fanshawe Women's Soccer team were handed their first loss of the season by the top team in the PACWEST, the Capilano Blues, by a score of 7-1. The Championship is being held in Toronto hosted by Humber College.

 

The first half was all Blues, as they scored seven goals in the opening 45 minutes to establish a large lead on the red and white. In the 59th minute, senior Falcon and All-Canadian, Kayla McQueen (London, ON) got Fanshawe on the board with a shot to the bottom left corner of the Capilano net. Rookie midfielder Juliana Popovic (London,ON) was named the team's Player of the Match.

 

The Falcons will now face the Holland Hurricanes, the ACAA Champions. The Hurricanes finished atop the ACAA standings with a 9-2-1 record but dropped their CCAA quarterfinal 7-0 to top ranked Vanier.
