OCAA Announces Women’s Soccer Award Winners

(London, Ontario) – On Thursday, the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) named the Women's Soccer award winners for the 2021-22 season.

 

Fifth-year striker Kayla McQueen (London, ON) was named a CCAA All-Canadian and West Division Player of the Year. She scored a league-high 17 goals, capturing the OCAA Scoring Title. This is the third consecutive year where a Fanshawe Falcon has led the OCAA in goals scored. McQueen was also named a League All-Star.

 

Rookie midfielder, Madilyn Michienzi (London, ON), was named the OCAA West Division Rookie of the Year, while Falcon teammate Emily Sheculski (London, ON) was named the West Division Defensive Player of the Year. Both were also named to the West Division All-Star Team. Additionally, Fanshawe's Victoria Hinchliffe (Guelph, ON), Abby Scott (Toronto, ON) and Juliana Popovic (London, ON) were named OCAA West Division League All-Stars for their excellent play this season.

 

As a team, the No. 9 nationally ranked Falcons claimed the OCAA West Division title and West Division Best Defensive Team. Fanshawe has a record of 6-0-1 and is currently riding a 34 game OCAA unbeaten streak.

 

Fanshawe is hosting the OCAA Provincial Championship this weekend at City Wide Sports Park. The 2-time reigning OCAA Champion Falcons will face the Humber Hawks (6-2-0, 2nd in Central) in an OCAA semi-final in London on Friday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m.
