No. 11 Fanshawe Women’s Soccer Advances to Final Four

(London, Ontario) – The No. 11 nationally ranked Fanshawe Falcons Women's Soccer team continued their OCAA unbeaten streak on Saturday afternoon at City Wide. The Falcons (6-0-1, 1st West) defeated the George Brown Huskies (3-5, 3rd Central) in extra time 1-0 in an OCAA quarterfinal playoff game to extend their OCAA unbeaten streak to 34. With the win, Fanshawe now advances to the OCAA final four, hosted by the Falcons on October 29-30 at City Wide Sports Park.

Despite the Falcons having numerous chances throughout the game, the George Brown goalkeeper had an outstanding 14 saves to keep the game scoreless and force extra time. Fanshawe was finally able to capitalize early in overtime when first year midfielder Madilyn Michienzi (London, ON) found the back right of the Huskies' net for the 1-0 lead. The Falcons would hold on to secure the quarterfinal victory. Total shots in the game were 26-3 in favour of the home team and Fanshawe had 15 shots on goal to George Brown's three.

The 2-time reigning OCAA Champion Falcons will face the Humber Hawks (6-2-2, 2nd in Central) in an OCAA semi-final in London on Friday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m.
