No. 12 Fanshawe Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Lambton

(London, Ontario) – On Saturday afternoon at Fanshawe College, the No. 12 nationally ranked Falcons (2-0-0) cruised to a 5-0 victory over the Lambton Lions (0-2-0). Fanshawe is currently on a nine game regular season unbeaten streak.

The Falcons struck first when Tomas Alvarez (London, ON) connected with Bradley Heath (Markham, ON) in the 24th minute go take an early lead. Mike Sneddon (Mount Brydges, ON) then hit the crossbar on a header from a Jonathan Kam (London, ON) cross. Despite Fanshawe controlling the majority of the possession throughout the first half, the Falcons finished the first 45 minutes with a slim 1-0 advantage.

In the 51st minute, the red and white capitalized on a penalty kick goal by Sneddon to go up 2-0. Local rookie Jalen Loague used some fancy footwork to beat the Lions defence and made the score 3-0 in the 75th minute. Second year Falcon Carlton Fletcher (Brampton, ON) then set up Justin Wood (London, ON) to extend Fanshawe's lead to 4-0. Heath would conclude the scoring with a penalty kick in the final minute to make the final score 5-0. The total shots were 16-4 in favour of the Falcons.

The Falcons will face the Conestoga Condors (1-0-0) at home in their next match on Wednesday, September 29 at 4pm.
