Landers Captures Men’s Individual Gold at the OCAA Championships

(London, Ontario) – At the Ambassador Golf Course in Windsor, Ontario, the 2023 OCAA Provincial Golf Championships wrapped up on Wednesday evening. Earning the men's individual gold medal was Fanshawe's very own, Ben Landers (Delaware, ON). The Falcons Men's Golf team was awarded the silver medal due to their excellent play.

This is Landers' second OCAA individual medal in two years, improving from his silver medal last season, finishing behind teammate Mitchel Hampson in 2022. This year, with an impressive score of 207, Landers also set a new Fanshawe Men's Golf record for the best three-day score at an OCAA championship (previous record of 209 set by Thomas Code in 2018). He was named to the OCAA All-Ontario Team after posting rounds of 71-67-69 to finish six under par, four strokes ahead of his nearest competitor.

With a team total of 882 (+30), the Falcons finished the tournament ahead of the host St. Clair Saints by 15 shots to secure the team silver medal. Brent Schidowka (Komoka, ON) (222, T9th), Luke Evans (Georgetown, ON) (226, 14th), Griffin Rowe (Ailsa Craig, ON) (229, T17th), and Austin Kuiack (London, ON) (237, T23rd) made up the rest of Fanshawe's podium-finishing team. The Falcons will now advance to play in the CCAA National Championship from October 17-20 at the Club de golf Lorette in Quebec City, Quebec.
