Lowry, Roth Honoured with Major OCAA Softball Awards

(London, Ontario) – The OCAA announced today the Women's Softball league award winners.

 

Morgan LowryOCAA Softball Pitcher of the Year and League All-Star: 

Fanshawe second-year pitcher Morgan Lowry (Middlesex-Centre, ON), had an outstanding season with the Falcons. On September 24, Lowry struck out 19 Conestoga Condors in a complete game 4-2 win to set a new OCAA record for most strikeouts in a single game. Lowry finished the regular season with a 7-1 record and had 102 strikeouts, which set a new Fanshawe Softball record for most strikeouts in a season. She also holds the Fanshawe Softball record for the most all-time career strikeouts with 170, averaging an incredible 11.7 per game. This marks the first time that a Falcons' student-athlete has won the OCAA Pitcher of the Year award.

 

Kennedi RothOCAA Softball Batting Champion and League All-Star: 

Kennedi Roth (Stratford, ON) was once again one of the most valuable Falcons in the 2021 season. She had a league-high batting average of .552 that set a new Fanshawe Softball record in that category. This also marks the first time that a Falcons' student-athlete has won the OCAA Batting Champion award. The centrefielder led the team and was top three in the OCAA in hits (32) and runs (25). Additionally, Roth set an all-time career Fanshawe Softball record for most stolen bases with 53 over her three year career.

 

The Falcons (9-7, 4th) will face the Conestoga Condors (6-12, 5th) in an OCAA first round playoff game on Thursday, October 21 at 6 p.m. The championship is being held at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario.
