Lowry Named OCAA Women's Softball Athlete of the Week

TORONTO - The following student-athlete has been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending on Sunday, September 26:

Sport: Women's Softball
Hometown: Middlesex Centre, Ont.


Lowry tied the OCAA strikeout record in Fanshawe's critical 4-2 win over Conestoga on Sept. 24 in Windsor, Ont. She pitched a complete game with 19 strikeouts, breaking the OCAA strikeout record set 22 years ago by Seneca's Debbie Wadsworth, and matched by Rebecca Cunningham of Seneca in 2009. Lowry allowed two runs on two hits, walking none. The second-year hurler currently leads all of OCAA with 35 strikeouts, averaging 1.8 per inning. Lowry's ERA is also near the top of the league at 1.56. Fanshawe visits Conestoga in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
