Fanshawe Women’s Curling Team Captures OCAA Bronze Medal

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Curling teams competed at the OCAA Provincial Championships in Sault Ste. Marie hosted by Sault College this past weekend. The Falcons Women came home with some hardware, capturing the provincial bronze medal.

The Women's team finished 3-3 after round robin play, good for third place. This set them up for a semi-final match against the Niagara Knights, which the Falcons lost 8-1 to claim the OCAA bronze medal. The Fanshawe team is comprised of skip Lauren Massey (London, ON), vice Victoria Hinchliffe (Guelph, ON), second Leah Hopkins (Ingersoll, ON) and lead Karima Hassan (London, ON). The team is coached by Barry Westman and DJ Ronaldson. Hopkins was named an OCAA Second-Team Championship All-Star.

The Fanshawe Men finished round robin play in fifth place with a record of 1-4 and did not advance to the medal rounds. Unfortunately, Curling Canada has cancelled the CCAA National Championships this season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
