Falcons Student Employee Cadie De Kelver Awarded OCR Leadership Honours

Last week, the Ontario Collegiate Recreation (OCR) announced the selection of two Student Leadership Award recipients for the year 2021/22. This award is given to student leaders who have significant involvement in their athletics and recreation departments, motivate their peers, volunteer in many capacities and promote athletics and recreation on their campuses.

Fanshawe is proud to share that Cadie De Kelver is one of the recipients. Cadie is also on the heels of being awarded the Student Leadership in Training and the Mike Lindsay Leadership Award at Fanshawe. She is currently completing her fifth Fanshawe credential on Honours Bachelor of Commerce in Digital Marketing. Cadie has an unparalleled passion for student life which can be seen through her involvement throughout Fanshawe.

Cadie began working with Jackie Corby and the campus recreation team in September of 2018. In the summer of 2019, she completed her first co-op with Reputation and Brand Management (RBM) as a Social Media Coordinator contributing to the content strategy for social media across the college. In fall 2019, Cadie took the opportunity and spent a semester in France through Fanshawe's study abroad program.

Cadie returned to Fanshawe as the pandemic began shut many thing down, including campus athletics, fitness and recreation. Still she reconnected with Jackie and found other ways to stay involved. Cadie, along with few classmates, completed a Riipen Level-up project to develop the social media strategy for the Student Wellness Centre (SWC). When the SWC re-opened, Cadie returned to the campus recreation team and led their social media development. As a proud Falcon Cadie has also always made herself available to virtual open house events sharing her knowledge of student life and the college with prospective students.

While working at the SWC, Cadie also successfully ran for the position of Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) Director and contributed her knowledge of the college and student life to the FSU.

In January 2022, Cadie returned to RBM for her second co-op as Social Media Coordinator where she has helped with the college content strategy on social media, specifically with TikTok and Instagram reels. With the addition of a second co-op student to the team in May, Cadie is now leveraging her passion for student services leading the social media strategy for the @FanshaweHereForYou account alongside Sarah Wells, social media communications officer.

Cadie is a remarkable student leader and has become a well-known face around the college, thanks to her presence in the SWC, role as a FSU Director and work in front of the camera as a social media coordinator. Please join us in congratulating Cadie on this remarkable achievement.
