Fanshawe Athletics Announces 2021-22 Award Winners

(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe Athletics announced today that Morgan Lowry (Women's Softball) has been named Fanshawe's Female Athlete of the Year and that Seth Marcaccio (Men's Cross Country) has been named Fanshawe's Male Athlete of the Year.

 

Female Athlete of the Year: Morgan Lowry – Lowry was a dominant force in the OCAA this season as the league's top pitcher. Her impressive 2021 campaign included 61 innings pitched and a Fanshawe record of 102 strikeouts. Her ERA was 2.3 and was named the OCAA Pitcher of the Year, a first in Falcon history. On September 24, 2021, Lowry set a new OCAA strikeout record, breaking the previous record of 17 set in 2009. She struck out 19 Conestoga Condors in a complete game 4-2 win. She had a 7-1 record and was also named an OCAA League All-Star. Lowry also set the Fanshawe Softball all-time career strikeout record with 170, averaging an incredible 11.7 per game in her two-year career.

 

Male Athlete of the Year: Seth Marcaccio – Marcaccio demonstrated true leadership this season through his hard work, performance, and dedication to his team. This year, he won every regular season race and topped it off with both an individual and team OCAA provincial gold medal. The fifth-year runner led the Fanshawe Men's Cross Country team to a CCAA National Championship title and captured an individual bronze on the national stage. Marcaccio is an incredible talent and was named a CCAA All-Canadian, CCAA Academic All-Canadian and OCAA All-Ontario First Team award winner. He used his knowledge and experience to help guide the team toward success, making him a tremendous asset to the Falcons program. Marcaccio is a model student-athlete who shares his love for running with his teammates.

The Fowler Kennedy Varsity Award – Sandy Freeland (Men's Cross Country)

Mike Lindsay Leadership Award – Cadie De Kelver

World Transplant Games Legacy Badminton Award – Martin Truong

Team Academic Challenge – Women's Softball, GPA: 3.69

CCAA Academic All-Canadians – Seth Marcaccio (Cross Country, Tamara Depauw (Cross Country), Abby Scott (Soccer), Emily Sheculski (Soccer), Victoria Hinchliffe (Curling/Soccer), San Dang (Badminton) and Arpitraj Sinha (Badminton).
