(London, Ontario) – In the CCAA bronze medal semi-final on Saturday morning, the No. 6 nationally ranked Fanshawe Women's Volleyball team topped No. 7 Camosun in three straight sets. The National Championship is being hosted by Garneau in Quebec City.

Falcons outside hitter Katie Stewart (Gananoque, ON) got Fanshawe out to a strong start in the opening set. She had five first set kills to lead the red and white. A block from CCAA All-Canadian Janelle Albert (Brampton, ON) maintained Fanshawe's slim advantage. A service ace from Kim Hardy (Melbourne, ON) gave the Birds a 16-14 lead. The Falcons would continue their strong team play and win set one 25-23.

The Falcons came out flying in set two, taking an early lead and never looking back. An Ashley Rafferty (Peace River, AB) block, followed by a huge kill from Albert extended Fanshawe's advantage to five points midway through the frame, 15-10. The Birds put the set out of reach with back-to-back kills and would go on to take set two 25-17.

Tarea Heshka (Erin, ON) carried over Fanshawe's momentum with a service ace early in set three. Middle blocker Mattea Deleary (Ridgetown, ON) had a nice hit to keep the Falcons on top. Stewart made the score 18-13 on a right-side kill. Fanshawe's well-balanced offense continued to give Camosun a hard time, and the Falcons would go on to win the third set 25-20 and the match 3-0. Libero Lauren Reycraft (Kitchener, ON) was named the Player of the Match for her excellent performance.

The Falcons will now play in their second consecutive bronze medal match on Saturday at 6:00pm, where they will face the winner between the No. 2 Briercrest Clippers and No. 5 Red Deer Queens.
