(London, Ontario) – On Thursday afternoon in Welland, Ontario, the Fanshawe Women's Volleyball team (22-1) fell to the Douglas Royals in their quarterfinal match at the CCAA National Championship three sets to none.

The Falcons kept up with the Royals' high-powered offense in the opening set, as the teams traded points throughout. Fanshawe went up 24-23 late in the set with a huge hit from CCAA Player of the Year Janelle Albert (Brampton, ON). Unfortunately, Douglas would regroup and take the first set 27-25. The second frame also saw several lead changes but the Royals would once again come away with a tight 25-22 win. Douglas would put the game away in the final set with a 25-12 victory.

Albert was named player of the match for Fanshawe, recording a team-high 15 points and 12 digs.

The Falcons will now play in a CCAA bronze medal quarterfinal against the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics from Halifax on Friday at 1:00pm EST. Atlantic conference champion MSVU also suffered their first loss of the season in their CCAA quarterfinal to The King's Eagles from Alberta 3-2.
