Women’s Volleyball to Play Douglas in CCAA Quarterfinal Match

(London, Ontario) – The OCAA Champion Fanshawe Women's Volleyball team will compete for the CCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship from March 6-9. The National Championship will be hosted by Niagara College in Welland. In the quarterfinal, the #4 nationally ranked Falcons (22-0) will face the #3 Douglas Royals from the PACWEST conference at 3pm EST on Thursday, March 7.

 

Fanshawe is led by OCAA Player of the Year Janelle Albert (Brampton, ON) who averaged 4.8 points per set this season. Supporting Albert are league and tournament all-stars Meghan Morelli (London, ON) and Danielle Grasman (Komoka, ON) who add 3.5 and 3.2 points per set respectively, with help from OCAA Rookie of the Year setter Ashley Rafferty (Peace River, AB).

 

The Royals are led by Vania Oliveira and Caet McCorkell, who were both named all-stars in the PACWEST tournament. Douglas finished in second place in regular season play with a record of 18-6. They also finished second in the PACWEST provincials, as they dropped their conference final 3-0 to #1 Vancouver Island University.
