Kovacevic Named OCAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Year

 (London, Ontario) – On Wednesday evening, the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) named Jade Kovacevic (Acton, ON) the Women's Soccer Player of the Year and a CCAA All-Canadian. This is the third time in her career that she has garnered both esteemed honours (2015-16, 2016-17). Kovacevic led the Falcons to an OCAA West Division title with an undefeated record of 10-0. Fanshawe was also awarded the West Division Best Defensive Team.

 

Jade KovacevicOCAA Player of the Year, League Scoring Champion and CCAA All-Canadian: 

Kovacevic led the OCAA in goals this season, scoring 30 and setting a new OCAA record in the process. The dynamic striker finished 18 goals ahead of her nearest competitor. She also set a new OCAA record for goals in a single game with nine (Sept. 8 vs. Lambton). After three seasons, Kovacevic is second in OCAA all-time scoring with 79 career goals.

 

Alex ClementsOCAA West Defensive Player of the Year and OCAA League All-Star:

Fanshawe centreback Alex Clements (London, ON) led the team to a West Division low of four goals against all season. The third-year captain was strong all year, only allowing opponents to an average of 4.4 shots on goal per game.   

 

Nicole NielsenOCAA League All-Star: 

London native Nicole Nielsen scored 11 goals in the 2018 season for the Falcons, tied for third in OCAA scoring. The striker averaged 1.2 goals per game, including two hat tricks.

 

The #6 nationally ranked Falcons Women's Soccer squad (10-0, 1st in West) will play the Algonquin Thunder (6-1-5, 3rd in East) in an OCAA quarterfinal match on Thursday, October 25 at 10am. The Championship will be hosted by Seneca College in Toronto.
