(London, Ontario) – On Friday evening, the Fanshawe Falcons Women's Indoor Soccer team won their third OCAA medal in three years at the OCAA Provincial Championship in Toronto, ON. Fanshawe fell to the host Humber Hawks 4-2 in the final to claim the silver medal.

The Falcons finished second in their pool, with a record of 1-1-1 through round robin play. In their opening game on Thursday, Fanshawe tied the Sheridan Bruins 0-0. The red and white then dropped a 2-1 game to Humber, with Chelsea Zavitz (St. Thomas, ON) scoring the lone goal for the Falcons on a penalty kick. In a must-win game to advance to the medal rounds, Fanshawe took care of business and finished the day with a dominant 4-1 win over George Brown.

On Friday in their OCAA semi-final match, the Falcons edged out the St. Clair Saints in penalty kicks. After 40 minutes of regular time and 10 minutes of overtime, the game was scoreless despite opportunities for both sides. Fanshawe won 3-2 in penalty kicks to take the 1-0 win and guarantee themselves a medal.

In the Championship final, the Falcons faced the Hawks in a rematch of Thursday's game. Fanshawe took the lead 2-1 in the opening frame with two goals from Zavitz. Unfortunately, the Hawks came out strong in the second half, scoring back-to-back goals to go up 3-2 then adding another to seal the deal. The Falcons would fall 4-2 and take home the OCAA silver medal. Fanshawe's Amber-Lea Hodgins (London, ON) and Zavitz were named Tournament All-Stars.
