(London, Ontario) – On Saturday afternoon, the Fanshawe Falcons Women's Indoor Soccer team won their second OCAA bronze medal in two years at the Provincial Championship in Ancaster, ON.

The Falcons finished first in their pool, with a record of 3-0-1 through round robin play. In their opening game on Thursday, Fanshawe defeated Mohawk 1-0 with a lone goal from Sheree Uyl (Blyth, ON). They then beat Centennial 2-1, with goals from Uyl and Allison Pike (Mississauga, ON).

The Falcons continued their winning ways on Friday, when they overpowered Conestoga 3-0. London native, Amber-Lea Hodgins got the Falcons on the board, followed by goals from Katie Rowe (Mount Brydges, ON) and Pike. In their final round robin game, Fanshawe fell behind early against the Sheridan Bruins, but yet another goal from Uyl got the Falcons back in the game. The match would end in a 1-1 draw, which was enough to give the Falcons the top seed in their pool.

In the semi-final on Saturday, Fanshawe fell in overtime by a final score of 1-0 to the Seneca Sting. Despite being in control for most of the game, the Falcons were unable to find the back of the net. The Sting took advantage in overtime and were able to knock one home to send Fanshawe to the bronze medal game.

The Falcons faced the Bruins in a rematch of Friday's game. Fanshawe was able to capitalize on a Sheridan penalty in the final minute of the first half, when a rocket of a shot from Alex Clements (London, ON) resulted in a rebound that Uyl was able to put away to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead at half-time. Sheridan scored a goal of their own late in the second half to tie it up however Fanshawe responded quickly. The very next trip down the field, Clements scored to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead and they would hold on to win the game. Clements was named a Tournament All-Star.
