Falcons Dominate Late to Win Second Straight Game

(London Ontario) - The Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (2-2) secured a hard-fought win over the Redeemer Royals (0-4) by a score of 69-54 at home on Saturday afternoon. This game marked their second win in a row, as the Falcons stay perfect at home to start the season.

The Birds got started early with Karyn TeBrake (Ottawa, ON) hitting a three to open the scoring for Fanshawe. Fanshawe's team chemistry was on display in the first quarter, collecting seven assists as a team by seven different Falcons on their way to a 20-14 lead after one.

Fanshawe started off hot in the second quarter as Renee Maat (Oakville, ON) drilled a shot from beyond the arc, followed up by a strong finish at the rim by Ashlyn Anderson (Latchford, ON) moments later. Despite hot shooting from the field early by the Falcons, Redeemer showed their grit battling back to a 33-33 tie at the break.

Coming out of halftime, Fanshawe's defense tightened, pressuring Redeemer's ball handlers across the court. Joanna Smith (Simcoe, ON) energized the offense, hitting two clutch three-pointers to help Fanshawe regain their lead, 52-47, heading into the final quarter.

The Falcons took full control in the fourth, opening with a 7-0 run to stretch the lead to 59-47. Myra Ciccarelli (Hamilton, ON) played a key role, finishing with 14 points, four assists, and three steals, including seven points in the fourth quarter to secure the comfortable victory.

The Birds will look to stay hot and push their win streak to three games, as they take on the Humber Hawks (2-1) at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on November 6th at 6:00pm, in what is set to be an exciting matchup.
