(London, Ontario) – At the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Thursday evening, the Fanshawe Falcons Men's Volleyball team (5-6) were defeated by the No. 12 nationally ranked Conestoga Condors (8-3) in three sets.

The teams exchanged points in the opening set, with the Falcons getting points from last week's OCAA Star of the Week Ewan Mason (London, ON). Mitch McFadden (St. Paul's, ON) then had a massive kill that excited the home crowd. Conestoga was able to pull away at the end of the frame to take the first set by a score of 25-21.

Fanshawe held a slim 2-point lead throughout the middle of set two with hits from Daniel Ridings (St. Catherines, ON) and Luke Blissett (London, ON). However, the Condors would bounce back and take the lead and the set 25-23.

Conestoga used their momentum to carry them to a 25-18 third set win and ultimately a 3-0 victory over the red and white. The top performer for the Falcons was Mason with 14 points.

Fanshawe will continue to be at home for the next two matches. Next up, the Birds will host No. 14 Redeemer Royals on Wednesday, January 22 at 8pm. The match will be the Bell Let's Talk Mental Health Awareness game.

On Saturday, January 25, Fanshawe Athletics will be hosting the annual Falcons Fest event featuring a quad-header against rival Humber Hawks. Women's Volleyball will start things off at 1pm, followed by Men's Volleyball at 3pm, Women's Basketball at 5pm and ending with Men's Basketball at 7pm. There will be free food, soft drinks and Falcons beach towels given out to the first 75 fans per game (limit one per person).
