Fanshawe Men’s Volleyball Team Advances to CCAA National Semi-Final

(London, Ontario) – On Thursday afternoon in Red Deer, Alberta, the #1 nationally ranked Fanshawe Men's Volleyball team (23-0) defeated the Holland Hurricanes from Charlottetown, PEI, 3-0 in their quarterfinal match at the CCAA National Championship.

 

The Falcons and the Hurricanes traded points for much of the opening set. With the score tied at 21, a Zach Albert (Brampton, ON) service ace sparked a 4-1 run for Fanshawe. The red and white took the first set by a score of 25-22.

 

The Birds settled in during the second set, maintaining the lead throughout the frame and went on to close out the set 25-21.

 

Fanshawe got off to an early lead in the third set and they would never look back. Albert continued his outstanding serving, leading the Falcons to a 25-10 final set win and 3-0 victory. Albert was named the player of the match for his performance, recording 17 points, including an incredible 10 service aces. Sam Otten (Delaware, ON) added 15 points for Fanshawe.

 

The Falcons will face the Alberta champions, the Keyano Huskies in a CCAA semi-final match on Friday at 8:00pm EST (6:00pm MST).
