Fanshawe Men’s Soccer Honoured with OCAA League Awards

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Falcons Men's Soccer team was honoured for their accomplishments this season as the OCAA handed out the 2024-25 league awards.

 

Fanshawe Head Coach, Rob Pereira, was named the OCAA West Division Coach of the year for the 5th time in his nine years of leading the Falcons. He coached the young red and white squad to a 7-3 record in a competitive West Division.

 

Four Falcons were named to the OCAA West Division First All-Star team. Captain Eric Savoie (Ingersoll, ON) was awarded accolades based on his stellar defensive play throughout the season. Savoie also notched 3 goals and 2 assists. Fanshawe striker Jakob Bancewicz (London, ON) was also named a First Team All-Star, leading the Falcons with six goals scored, good for 8th in the OCAA. Local goalkeeper Dylan DaSilva received First Team All-Star honours with a save percentage of .763 and goals against average of 1.08. Teammate Dante D'Oria (London, ON) was named both a First Team All-Star and named to the OCAA West Division All-Rookie Team. D'Oria led the Falcons with three assists and was second on the team in scoring with three goals. Fanshawe midfielder Juan Sebastian Gomez Galeano (London, ON) was named an OCAA Second Team All-Star for his excellent play throughout the season.

 

The Falcons (7-3, 4th West) will face East Division champion Algonquin (7-1-2, 1st East) on Saturday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. The men will look to carry the momentum from their thrilling first round match against Redeemer, where Dante D'Oria scored in the 90th minute to seal the 2-1 win for the Birds.
