Falcons Fall Short Versus St. Clair

Falcons Fall Short Versus St. Clair

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Men's Basketball team took on the number six CCAA ranked St. Clair Saints (13-2) Saturday afternoon at Falcons Fest, falling by a score of 92-67.

It was a slow start for the Birds offence as St. Clair played a physical brand of defence which made life difficult for Falcon ball handlers. St. Clair demonstrated why they are one of the top teams in the OCAA, finishing the first quarter with a 21-8 lead.

The Falcons offence started to gain some traction in the second quarter, scoring 20 points in the frame. A bright spot for the Birds in this game was the play of Burak Djamgouz (Oakville, ON) who shot an efficient 4-7 from beyond the arc on his way to 13 points in the game. He did half his damage in the second quarter, but St. Clair's offence didn't slow down either as they scored 30 in the quarter and took a 51-28 lead into half.

The third and fourth quarters were evenly played between the two sides but unfortunately for the Falcons, the early deficit built in the first quarter proved too much to come back from. Steven Okoroafor (Burlington, ON) picked his play up in the second half, finishing the game with 12 points for his seventh straight game in double figures.

The Falcons will return to Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre for their final home game of the season on February 5th in a matchup against Mohawk (9-5). The Women's team will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. with the Men's team following at 8:00 p.m.
