Falcons Dominate Canadore to Win Second Straight

(London, Ontario) The Fanshawe Men's Basketball (4-8) team dominated the Canadore Panthers (1-11) on Sunday afternoon, winning 91-67.

The game got off to a fast-paced start as both teams attempted to push the ball in transition. Early in the first quarter, Steven Okoroafor (Burlington, ON) set the tone for the Falcons with aggressive offensive play. Okoroafor, building on his impressive 31-point performance against Redeemer on January 9th, tallied nine points in the opening frame to help Fanshawe secure a 16-12 lead heading into the second quarter.

The second quarter saw both teams trading buckets back and forth. Fanshawe focused on dominating the interior, consistently working the ball inside for high-percentage shots. Both teams scored 19 points in the quarter as the Falcons went into the half sporting a slim 35-31 lead.

In the third quarter, Da'Marion Ennis (Windsor, ON), the OCAA's leading rebounder (per-game), took control of the game. He picked up 10 points to go along with seven rebounds in the frame to fuel a 30-point quarter for the Birds. Ennis continues to be a force for the Men's Basketball team this season, finishing the game with a near triple-double, collecting 21 points, 17 rebounds and seven assists. Fanshawe carried a 65-48 lead into the final quarter.

Fanshawe's offense continued to click in the fourth quarter, scoring efficiently at all three levels. Key contributions from reserves Mohammad Al-Sama'Neh (London, ON) and Lennon Campos (Georgetown, ON) bolstered the team's effort. Al-Sama'Neh recorded nine points and seven assists, while Campos added 16 points and seven rebounds. With the entire roster firing on all cylinders, the Falcons sealed their dominant victory with a final score of 91-67.

Both the Men's and Women's basketball teams will return to action next weekend on January 18th, traveling to face Humber. The Falcons will be back on home court at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Wednesday, January 22nd, to take on the Niagara Knights.
