(London, Ontario) – In their home opener on Tuesday night, the Fanshawe Men's Basketball team (0-3) put up a strong effort against the Sheridan Bruins (2-2) but ultimately fell 73-66.
The Falcons found themselves trailing early as Sheridan had a hot start from beyond the arc, drilling three shots from downtown in the first quarter. The second frame faired a little better for the Falcons as Da'Marion Ennis (Windsor, ON) crashed the glass for five rebounds and scored four points in the quarter. Still, the Birds found themselves down 40-27 at the half.
The Falcons saved their best push for the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Second year guard Brandon Bogart (St. Thomas, ON) who ended the night with 17 points, ignited a late rally, scoring six points and snagging three steals during a thrilling 16-0 run. With under two minutes left, Fanshawe closed the gap and put Sheridan on edge, but it ended up being too little too late as the Birds ran out of time and fell 73-66.
The Men's team will look to bounce back as they continue their homestand this Saturday, November 2nd, at 3:00 PM against the Redeemer Royals (1-2). The Falcons are eager to secure their first win of the season and build momentum in front of their home crowd.
