No. 14 Falcons Men’s Basketball Falls to Humber

(London, Ontario) – At the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Saturday evening, the No. 14 ranked Falcons Men's Basketball team (9-5) fell to the Humber Hawks (11-4) by a final score of 93-80. The game rounded out Fanshawe Athletics annual Falcons Fest quadruple header event.

 

First-year shooting guard Marko Maletic got Fanshawe off to a good start, knocking down a pair of triples and free throws in the first quarter. In a battle of the birds, the teams traded points and were tied at 19 after the opening 10 minutes. In the second quarter, Adrian Stevens (Toronto, ON) hit a couple of 3-pointers of his own to give the Falcons the lead. Maletic added an additional 11 points in the second frame to give the home team a 42-37 halftime lead.

 

D'Andre Austin (Toronto, ON) had a strong take to the basket for Fanshawe in the third quarter. Unfortunately Humber found their rhythm, shooting 62% from the field to go up 72-59 going into the final quarter of play. Despite the red and white's attempts to come back, the Hawks would hold on to their lead and go on to win the game 93-80. Maletic had a game-high 34 points, including shooting 11 for 18 from the field and adding five assists. Austin chipped in 16 points, while Hanani Ujullu (Kitchener, ON) set a new Fanshawe Men's Basketball record for most rebounds in a single game with 19.

 

The Falcons will be on the road for their next contest on Wednesday, January 25 against the Lambton Lions (6-8).
