Fanshawe Men’s Basketball Opens New Year in CCAA Rankings

(London, Ontario) – In the first Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national rankings of 2020, the Fanshawe Falcons Men's Basketball team has cracked the top 15 in the country.

 

For the first time in five years, the Men's Basketball team is ranked No. 11 in Canada after a win over previously No. 5 ranked George Brown during the break. The Falcons bumped the Huskies to No. 12 after a 92-86 victory. Fanshawe (9-2) is currently tied for first in an ultra-competitive OCAA West Division with St. Clair (9-2), who they will face next on Friday, January 17 in Windsor. The Falcons are riding an eight-game OCAA regular season win streak powered by fifth-year forward Alfred Johnson. Johnson currently leads the league in rebounds per game (12.2) and is second in the OCAA West Division in points per game (21.0). Other nationally ranked OCAA teams include Seneca (7) and Sheridan (9).

 

The Women's Volleyball and Basketball teams both remain at No. 4 and No. 8 respectively. So far this season, ten of eleven Fanshawe teams have been nationally ranked, including all six of the Falcons Women's squads.
