Fanshawe Men’s Golf Team Crowned OCAA Champions

(London, Ontario) – The OCAA Provincial Golf Championship concluded today at Legends on the Niagara Golf Course in Niagara Falls. The Falcons Men's Golf team were crowned the OCAA Provincial champions for the first time since 1992.

 

Fanshawe golfers Mitchel Hampson (Mitchell, ON) and Ben Landers (Delaware, ON) also brought home individual medals, winning gold and silver respectively.

 

The Falcons finished with a three day team total of 873 (+9), five shots ahead of second place Humber College. Hampson's outstanding play led the Falcons with a three day score of 210, posting consistent rounds of 70-70-70 to finish six under par. First-year teammate Landers had an excellent final round (66) to secure second place with a score of three under (213). Hampson and Landers were both named to the OCAA All-Ontario Team.

 

The OCAA champion Falcons Men's team is rounded out by Colin Warren (London, ON) (224, 7th), Luke Evans (Georgetown, ON) (232, T12th) and Brent Schidowka (Komoka, ON) (232, T12th). The Falcons Men's team will now advance to play in the CCAA National Championship from October 17-20 at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Ajax, ON. The event will be hosted by Durham College.

 

The Fanshawe women's golf team finished in fourth place in the tournament, with Jinnie Seo (Seoul) leading the way individually with a three day total of 318, good for 10th place overall.
