(London, Ontario) – The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced this evening at the National Championship banquet that Fanshawe Golf Head Coach Colin Robertson has been named the CCAA Coach of the Year. The National Championships will run from October 16-19 in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Robertson guided two of his student-athletes – Alyssa Stoddart (Orangeville, ON) and Braydon White (Barrie, ON) – to individual titles at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Championships. Fanshawe also captured its first ever Women's Team title and earned a silver medal in the Men's Team event. This is the first time in Fanshawe Golf history that a coach has been named the National Coach of the Year.

Robertson, who teaches in the Golf and Club Management program at Fanshawe, has created the Robertson Golf Academy with the goal of helping his student-athletes improve their game and reach their personal goals. At Fanshawe, Robertson makes every effort possible to understand each student's learning style and adapt. His goal is to make the Falcons Golf Program one of the best in the country.

"His approach to his student-athletes is that they improve everyday whether it be on the course or in class and his commitment in this approach, along with trying to grow the sport, is evidenced in this year's results," said Jim Knight, CCAA Golf Convenor.

Fanshawe's Manager of Athletics, Nathan McFadden, stated that "since joining our program four years ago, Colin has taken our program to the next level. He is very dedicated to his student-athletes success on and off the golf course and is highly deserving of this honour." 

The CCAA Coach of the Year recipients receive a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.
