Stoddart, White Named OCAA Stars of the Week

TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Oct. 7:

 

Alyssa Stoddart
School: Fanshawe
Program: Golf and Club Management
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Orangeville, Ont.
Stoddart made Fanshawe history, becoming first Falcons female golfer ever to win the individual gold medal at the recent OCAA provincial championship. Stoddart also led the Falcons women's team to an OCAA title, another first for Fanshawe golf. She not only led every day at OCAA provincials, setting a new Fanshawe record for best three day score (246), but she also topped the leaderboard in four OCAA lead-in tournaments. She now aims to become the first OCAA golfer since 2002 to win both the provincial and national gold medal later this month.



Braydon White
School: Fanshawe
Program: Marketing Management
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Barrie, Ont.
White led wire-to-wire to win the OCAA men's golf individual gold medal at the provincial championship this week, shooting an even-par 213 and setting a new Fanshawe men's golf best three-day record. He also tied for the best round of the tournament, shooting a one-under 70 on opening day. White's individual gold was the first time a Fanshawe golfer had accomplished the feat in 43 years. White also picked up a OCAA men's team silver medal. He now has his sets on a national medal later this month at the Desert Blume Golf Course in Medicine Hat, Alta.
