(London, Ontario) – The OCAA Provincial Golf Championships concluded today at FireRock Golf Club with Fanshawe's Alyssa Stoddart (Orangeville, ON) and Braydon White (Barrie, ON) being crowned OCAA champions in the Women's Individual and Men's Individual respective events. The Fanshawe Women's team also claimed the provincial gold medal in the team event, while the Men brought home a silver.

In capturing gold, Stoddart made Fanshawe history, becoming the first Falcons female golfer ever to win the individual title. She also set a new Fanshawe record for best three day score, shooting 246, six strokes ahead of second. The Falcon Women's team, rounded out by Mery Tarigan (Kabanjahe, Indonesia), made their own mark in capturing Fanshawe's first OCAA Golf gold medal in team competition. Both student-athletes were named to the OCAA All-Ontario Team.

White also set a Fanshawe Golf record, shooting even par (213) over the three days in less than perfect weather conditions. He also finished six strokes ahead of his closest competitor. White's individual gold was the first time a Fanshawe golfer had accomplished the feat in 43 years (Alex Bober, 1975). The OCAA silver medalist Falcons Men's team includes Blake Mackey (Walkerton, ON), Thomas Code (Dorchester, ON), Brad Byers (Oakville, ON) and London native Ryan Harvey. Both White and Mackey were named to the OCAA All-Ontario Team.

For their individual accomplishments, both White and Stoddart were named as CCAA All-Canadians. Fanshawe Head Coach Colin Robertson was named the OCAA Coach of the Year.

Both teams now advance to the CCAA Golf Championships. The Nationals will be hosted by Medicine Hat College from October 16-19 at Desert Blume Golf Club in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The Falcons Women's team are currently ranked #7 in Canada, while the Men are ranked #10.
