Fanshawe Baseball Sweeps Seneca Series

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Falcons Men's Baseball team (4-7) hosted the Seneca Sting (7-4) in three games this weekend. The Falcons defeated the Sting 12-4 Friday evening at Labatt Park and won on Saturday afternoon by scores of 10-6 and 5-2.

 

In Friday's game, the teams were tied 3-3 heading into the final inning. The top of the seventh saw the Falcons score nine runs on two hits and eight walks to notch the 12-4 victory. Braden Halford (Port Hope, ON) had an impressive night at the plate, going 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and 1 run for the Falcons. Adam Boyle (Oshawa, ON) (1-0) was the winning pitcher and Noah Williams (1-1) was the losing pitcher.

 

On Saturday afternoon in game one, the Falcons found their offensive groove early. The Birds went up 9-2 after the third inning and never looked back. Josh Hare (St. Thomas, ON) went 3 for 3 at the plate, with a pair of RBIs and runs. Fanshawe rookie Judd Walker (Mitchell, ON) was also perfect at the plate with 2 RBIs and 1 run. Macguire Gordon (Lucan, ON) stuffed the stat sheet, going 3 for 4 at the plate with 3 runs, 2 stolen bases and 1 RBI. Noah Campagnolo (Guelph, ON) (1-2) notched the win and Seneca's Jake Ruby (1-1) took the loss.

 

In the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, Seneca and Fanshawe were tied 2-2 after the seventh, forcing extra innings. The Falcons scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning and held off the Sting for the 5-2 extra inning victory. Catalin Morin (Amherstburg, ON) and Josh Arce (Oshawa, ON) recorded RBIs for the red and white. The Falcons had a season-high five stolen bases in the game. On the mound, Boyle moved to 2-0 on the season and Seneca's Cooper Lamb dropped to 0-1.

 

Fanshawe will face the George Brown Huskies (2-6) at 1pm on Sunday, September 29 at Aldridge Park.
