Falcons Drop Twin Bill Against St. Clair

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Baseball team (1-7) dropped two games against the St. Clair Saints (6-3) at Labatt Park Sunday afternoon by scores of 10-0 and 4-3.

 

The Falcons continued their weekend hitting woes in game one of the doubleheader. St. Clair went up 4-0 in the third inning and would continue to extend their lead throughout the game. The final score was 10-0 for the Saints. Fanshawe pitcher Catalin Morin (Amherstburg, ON) (0-1) took the loss on the mound. St. Clair's Micah Harris (2-1) notched the victory, throwing a complete game with 10 strikeouts.

 

The Saints would take an early lead in the second game, scoring one in the opening inning. St. Clair then added another three runs in the second frame. The Falcons responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Derek Smith (Wyoming, ON). Strong pitching from second-year Noah Campagnolo (Guelph, ON) kept the Saints scoreless in the next three innings to allow Fanshawe a chance at a comeback. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Smith had another base hit and advanced to second when Faris Adamou (Markham, ON) was hit by a pitch. With two outs, Morin and Braden Halford (Port Hope, ON) hit back-to-back doubles to score two for Fanshawe. Campagnolo shut out the Saints in the sixth and seventh innings, unfortunately, the Falcons could not complete the comeback and fell to the Saints 4-3. Stephen Barclay (Markham, ON) (0-1) was the losing pitcher for Fanshawe and Evan Ferguson (1-0) was the winning pitcher for St. Clair. Smith went 2 for 3 at the plate, with 2 RBIs and 1 run.

 

Fanshawe's next game is back at Labatt Park on Friday, September 27 at 6pm against first-place Seneca (7-0). The single game is a rescheduled event of the rainout games from September 15.
