TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending on Sunday, February 2:

Glyvette Etis
School: Fanshawe
Program: Hospitality and Tourism Operations Management
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Badminton
Hometown: Philippines
At the OCAA west regionals hosted by Humber College on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, Etis swept the competition to finish in first place in the women's singles competition. Etis went 5-0 in pool play, winning every set by an average score of 21-6. She then defeated UTM's Alice Xia 21-5, 21-7 in the semifinals to secure her spot at provincials. Etis finished the competition winning the first-place match 21-11, 21-7 over Humber's Melissa Duong. Etis will now set her sights on the OCAA championships being hosted by Conestoga College from Feb. 13-14.
