(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe Athletics announced today that Chuot Angou (Women's Basketball) has been named Fanshawe's Female Athlete of the Year and that Thomas Code (Golf) has been named Fanshawe's Male Athlete of the Year
Female Athlete of the Year: Chuot Angou – Angou is a standout talent who has proven herself to be the best in the nation as the CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year. The team captain led the Falcons to their second consecutive OCAA gold medal and was named an OCAA Tournament All-Star. She averaged 25 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game in the OCAA Championship tournament. In the semi-final and final games, Angou shot an incredible 42% from the field, 50% from beyond the arc and 91% from the free throw line. During the regular season, she led the CCAA and set a new OCAA record for best free throw percentage in a season (89.6%). The combo guard recorded 18.4 points per game and was named the OCAA Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, to go along with All-Canadian and First Team All-Star honours.
Male Athlete of the Year: Thomas Code – Code has been the leader of the Falcons Men's Golf team for the past four years. This season, he was crowned the OCAA Provincial individual champion with a final score of one under par. In winning gold, Code set a Fanshawe Golf record for best one day score (65), two day score (137) and three day score (209). The team captain also led the Falcons Men's Golf team to an OCAA team silver medal. Code was named to the OCAA All-Ontario team and a CCAA All-Canadian. He also captured first place at the Lakehead Invitational and finished top 14 at the CCAA National Championship. This is the first time in Fanshawe history that a golfer has been named the Male Athlete of the Year.
