OCAA Hall of Fame Class of 2019 to Include Three Fanshawe Athletes

(London, Ontario) – The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has announced the inductees into the OCAA Hall of Fame, Class of 2019. The OCAA Hall of Fame recognizes extraordinary contributions and accomplishments within collegiate sports in Ontario. Fanshawe College is proud to have three student-athletes selected for induction.

 

Rebecca Elliott (Huntley) - Elliott was a member of the Falcons Women's Basketball program for four seasons (1992-96). She led the Falcons in scoring in both 1993-94 and 1994-95. Elliott was named a CCAA All-Canadian in 1994-95 and an OCAA Championship All-Star in 1993-94. While she was playing for the Falcons, the team had an OCAA league record of 50-6 and won two provincial championships. She was the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year in 1992-93, a three-time OCAA All-Star (1993-94, 1994-95 and 1995-96), and the Fanshawe College Les Zoltai Award winner in 1994-95. Over her four year career, Elliott won a total of four medals; 2 OCAA Golds and 2 OCAA Silver. She scored a total of 781 points, averaging 14.0 points per game over her career.

 

Pat Sewell - Sewell was a member of the Falcons Men's Basketball program for three seasons (2004-07). He led the Falcons in scoring in all three seasons he played, with a career total of 636 points, good for 16.3 points per game. Sewell accumulated numerous accolades including; CCAA Player of the Year, CCAA All-Canadian, OCAA Player of the Year and OCAA Championship MVP in 2006-07. He was also an OCAA Second Team All-Star (2004-05), two-time OCAA First Team All-Star (2005-06, 2006-07), Fanshawe College Male Athlete of the Year (2006-07), Fanshawe Men's Basketball MVP (2005-06, 2006-07), and Fanshawe Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year (2004-05). While he was playing for the Falcons, the team had an OCAA league record of 33-7 and won an OCAA provincial championship in 2006-07.

 

Tunde Reti - Reti was a member of the Falcons Women's Basketball program for three seasons (1986-89). She was named a CCAA and OCAA Championship All-Star in 1988-89. Reti was also the OCAA Championship MVP, as well as a league All-Star in 1987-88. While she was playing for the Falcons, the team had an OCAA league record of 26-10 and won two provincial championships (1987-88, 1988-89). Reti was also a member of the Cross Country team in 1987-88 and was named the Fanshawe Female Athlete of the Year.

 

These new inductees will be recognized at the OCAA Hall of Fame Banquet to be held on May 8, 2019 at the Holiday Inn-Toronto International Airport in Etobicoke, Ontario.
