(London, Ontario) – With the completion of OCAA Volleyball regular season play, the first round playoff matches are set for both the Fanshawe Falcons Women's and Men's Volleyball teams.
Both squads will be hosting playoff matches against OCAA East Division opponents this upcoming Saturday, February 16 at the Glenn Johnston Athletics Centre. The #5 CCAA ranked Women (18-0, 1st in West) face the Georgian Grizzlies (6-12, 7th in East) at 1pm, followed by the #1 Men (18-0, 1st in West) versus the Fleming Knights (6-12, 7th in East) at 3pm.
The Fanshawe Women's squad has made history this season, becoming the first Fanshawe Women's Volleyball team to go undefeated. They set Fanshawe records for most wins in a season and most service aces in a season with 214. The Falcons lead the OCAA in numerous statistical categories including points per set (16.3), kills per set (11.02), assists per set (10.07) and aces per set (3.57).
The Fanshawe Men's Volleyball team has gone undefeated in OCAA league play for the second consecutive season. They also set a Fanshawe record for most service aces in a season with 140. The #1 nationally ranked Falcons squad leads the OCAA in kills per set (11.63) and hitting percentage (.359) and will look to win their third OCAA Championship in four years.
General admission tickets for playoff games are $5 per person, with free admission for kids under six and Fanshawe students with their valid FANCard. Tickets are cash only and will be available one hour prior to game time. Season passes are valid for playoff games.
