success

(London, Ontario) – The 2018-19 varsity season is off to a record start for the Fanshawe Falcons. The Falcons have won 15 medals after the conclusion of the fall sports season, an 88% increase from the same point last season. Every one of Fanshawe's eight fall sports teams won at least one medal. In 2017-18, Falcons teams earned a Fanshawe record-setting total of 20 medals. This season's teams are now only five away from that mark.

The Falcons have already tied the Fanshawe record for most provincial championships in a season with six (set previously in 1979, 1988, and 2018). They have also captured four national medals, including a Women's Cross Country team CCAA Championship.

Of the winter sports that have started, the Falcons are nationally ranked in Men's Volleyball (#1), Women's Basketball (#2) and Women's Volleyball (#5). All three teams are currently in first place in their OCAA Division. So far, Falcons teams in league sports have amassed an impressive record of 77-22, a .778 winning percentage. The Fanshawe Women's and Men's Curling teams are also reigning CCAA Gold and Silver medalists respectively and will look to continue their long history of success in February.

"These incredible achievements are a credit to the work of our tremendous coaching staff and the outstanding character, skill and compete level of our student-athletes" stated Nathan McFadden, Fanshawe's Manager of Athletics. "With every team having success to date, quite simply, our overall Athletics program has never been stronger."
