Cross Country Begins Season in National Rankings

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Women's and Men's Cross Country teams, and Women's and Men's Soccer teams are all ranked in this week's Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) top ten.

 

The Women's Cross Country team is ranked #4 in Canada after finishing in first place at the Seneca Invitational last week. The Fanshawe Women's team is led by Janelle Hanna (Peterborough, ON) and Sammi-Jo Burch (Strathroy, ON). The Men's Cross Country squad is #8 in the national rankings this week. The Falcons finished third in last weekend's race and are led by Luke Groulx (Blind River, ON). Fanshawe's next competition will be Saturday, October 13 at Centennial College in Toronto.

 

The Women's Soccer team moved up two spots to #6 this week after picking up a 9-0 win over Lambton. Fanshawe strikers Jade Kovacevic (Acton, ON) and Nicole Nielsen (London, ON) lead the OCAA in goals scored this season with 22 and 10 respectively. The Falcons will look to move to 8-0 on October 4 at Mohawk (3-2-2).

 

The Men's Soccer squad (6-0-1) also climbed the CCAA National Rankings this week and now sit at #8. They are currently riding a 24-game regular season unbeaten streak, dating back to September 17, 2016. The next match for the Falcons will be on the road, when they travel to face the Mohawk Mountaineers (1-6) on October 4.
