Hayden was a member of the Falcons Men's Basketball program for four seasons (1979-1983). He was an instrumental piece in both of Fanshawe's Men's Basketball National Championships (1979-80 and 1980-81) and was named a CCAA Championship All-Star in 1980-81. While he was playing for the Falcons, the team had an OCAA League record of 60-18 and playoff record of 9-4. He was a two-time OCAA First Team All-Star (1980-81 and 1981-82), an OCAA Second Team All-Star in 1982-83 and was named the OCAA Championship MVP in 1980-81. Fanshawe's co-Male Athlete of the Year in 1982-83, Hayden is currently second all-time in Fanshawe Men's Basketball history for total points with 1119, averaging 15.1 points per game over his career.
