(London, Ontario) – The No. 3 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Women's Volleyball squad (14-1) notched a 3-0 win over the Niagara Knights (8-6) on Saturday afternoon at the Glenn Johnston Athletics Centre, in the Falcons final regular season home game.

The two teams traded points throughout the majority of the first set. Fanshawe first-year Lauren Vahrmeyer (Vineland, ON) led the Falcons with nine points in the frame. A nice block from Katie Stewart (Gananoque, ON) created momentum for the Birds. The home team closed out the set with a Vahrmeyer kill to win 25-22.

Fanshawe continued where they left off in the second set with a massive kill from Janelle Albert (Brampton, ON). Mattea Deleary (Ridgetown, ON) denied Niagara at the net to excite the home crowd. The Falcons stretched their lead with a great dig from Maya Danis (Cambridge, ON) that resulted in points for the red and white. Fanshawe went on to win set two 25-13.

A service ace from Stewart gave the Falcons the lead in the third frame, but the Knights would stay within reach. A well-placed tip from Albert made the score 21-18 in the frame. Albert would continue to be a force, leading her team to a 25-19 third set victory and ultimately a 3-0 win. She led all scorers with 16 points. Albert is fifth in Fanshawe Women's Volleyball all-time points and kills with 516 ad 480 respectively. She is also third in all-time service aces with 87.

Fanshawe will play again next Saturday, February 8, when they go up north to battle the Cambrian Golden Shield (2-11).
