(London, Ontario) – On Wednesday afternoon in their CCAA quarterfinal, the No. 1 nationally ranked Fanshawe Women's Soccer team defeated the No. 13 Holland College Hurricanes by a final score of 3-0. The Championship is being held in Edmonton, Alberta hosted by Concordia University.

The Falcons opened the scoring early in the match on a goal from London native Nicole Nielsen in the third minute. Right before the end of the first half, Chelsea Zavitz (St. Thomas, ON) had a beautiful strike from outside the 18-yard box to make the score 2-0 for Fanshawe.

Kayla McQueen (London, ON) extended the lead at the start of the second frame, when she finished a nice cross from Jade Kovacevic (Acton, ON). The Falcons continued to dominate possession throughout the remainder of the game, limiting Holland's opportunities. Fanshawe would win the national quarterfinal 3-0 to advance to the CCAA semi-finals for the second consecutive year. Zavitz had a very strong game for the red and white and was named the team's player of the game.

The Falcons will now move on and face the winner of No. 3 NAIT and No. 9 Sainte-Foy. The semi-final match will be on Thursday, November 7 at 5:00pm EST (3:00pm MST). Viewers can watch the game live on the CCAA website: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ccaasportsacsc/
