(London, Ontario) – The No. 1 nationally ranked Fanshawe Falcons Women's Soccer team continued their OCAA unbeaten streak on Saturday afternoon at home. The Falcons (9-0-1, 1st in West) defeated the Centennial Colts (2-8, 7th in East) 7-0 in an OCAA first round playoff game to extend their unbeaten streak to 24. With the win, Fanshawe will now advance to the OCAA Provincial Championship.

The OCAA's leading scorer Jade Kovacevic (Action, ON) did not waste any time getting Fanshawe on the board in the first half. She placed a ball in the back of the net in the 11th minute of the match and added a second goal shortly after to make the score 2-0 for the Falcons. Kayla McQueen (London, ON) then scored on a magnificent volley that beat the Centennial goalkeeper. Kovacevic, the reigning CCAA national player of the year, was too much to handle for the Colts' back line and netted back-to-back goals a minute apart, assisted by Nicole Nielsen (London, ON). Fanshawe captain Chelsea Zavitz (St. Thomas, ON) extended the home team's lead by finishing a penalty kick in the 30th minute. Zavitz would score again before the end of the half to make the score 7-0, which would stand up to be the final score.

The OCAA Championship will be hosted by Redeemer University College in Ancaster from October 23-26. The reigning OCAA Champion Falcons will face the Niagara Knights (6-2-2, 4th in West) in an OCAA quarterfinal on Wednesday, October 23 at 10am.
