(London, Ontario) – The No. 3 nationally ranked Fanshawe Women's Soccer team (3-0-1) notched a 5-0 road victory against the previously undefeated No. 13 Mohawk Mountaineers (3-1-0) on Saturday afternoon.

Fifth-year striker Jade Kovacevic (Acton, ON) set a new OCAA league record for most career goals, as her four goals in the game brought her total to 84. The previous record of 83 was set by Tiffany Johnson from Cambrian (2014-17). The record-breaking goal was set up by Chelsea Zavitz (St. Thomas, ON), who beat a Mohawk defender and played a beautiful through ball to Kovacevic to set her up for a breakaway. Kovacevic made no mistake, calmly faking the Mountaineer's goalkeeper and putting the ball into the back of the net.

Over her four year career with the Falcons, the 3-time OCAA Player of the Year, and reigning CCAA Player of the Year, also has OCAA and Fanshawe Soccer records for most goals in a season (30, 2018-19), most goals in a regular season game (9, 2018-19) and most goals in a playoff game (5, 2018-19). She has averaged over 26 goals per season during her first three seasons as a Falcon. In 2018-19, Kovacevic was named the OCAA and Fanshawe Female Athlete of the Year.

"Setting the OCAA record for most career goals is an achievement that I have been striving for throughout my career with Fanshawe", stated Kovacevic. "I am proud to have added this to my accolades but the highest priority is still for our team to finish with a clean season, winning provincials and hopefully nationals as well."

Fanshawe's next match will be on the road against the Niagara Knights (2-1-0) on Friday, September 27.
