(London, Ontario) – The No. 3 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Women's Soccer squad (2-0-1) notched a 2-1 victory over the Redeemer Royals (0-3) on Saturday afternoon at home.

Despite the Falcons having the majority of possession in the first half, the Royals got on the board first to take an early advantage. Fanshawe forward Chelsea Zavitz (St. Thomas, ON) had back-to-back chances to equalize, but the Redeemer goalkeeper could not be beat. The opening frame would conclude with the visiting Royals leading 1-0. Shots were 9-4 in favour of the Falcons.

In the 64th minute, Fanshawe's leading goal scorer, Nicole Nielsen (London, ON) beat her defender and notched her fourth goal of the season to tie the game. Zavitz was taken down in the box in the 80th minute to create a penalty kick opportunity. Falcons fifth year Jade Kovacevic (Action, ON) made no mistake and capitalized to make the score 2-1. The marker was her 80th career regular season OCAA goal, only four away from setting the all-time record. The OCAA Women's Soccer record for most career goals is 83 (Tiffany Johnson, Cambrian, 2014-17).  Fanshawe had 25 total shots to Redeemer's five on the game, and held a 14-3 shots on goal advantage.

The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday, September 21 when they travel to Ancaster to face the Mohawk Mountaineers (2-0).
