(London, Ontario) – On Saturday afternoon, the #6 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Women's Soccer team set a Fanshawe record for most wins in a season. The Falcons finished OCAA regular season play with a 10-0-0 record after a 4-1 win over the Redeemer Royals (2-6-2).

Local striker Nicole Neilsen got the Falcons on the board in the 4th minute of play, when she capitalized on a great cross from Chelsea Zavitz (St. Thomas, ON). Jade Kovacevic (Acton, ON) then made the score 2-0 in the 30th minute with a well-placed strike to the top right corner. With the goal, Kovacevic set a new OCAA record for goals scored in a single season, previously set by Cambrian's Tiffany Johnson in 2016 (28).  Strong defending from Fanshawe centreback Alex Clements prevented Redeemer from getting many chances, as the Falcons outshot the Royals 15-2 in the first half.

In the second frame, the home team continued to dominate, creating opportunities offensively. Kovacevic notched her second goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 60th minute. She then set up Emilie Lutz (Cambridge, ON) in the 80th minute to extend the Fanshawe lead to 4-0. Redeemer would get on the board right before the final whistle, making the final score 4-1.

After three seasons, Kovacevic is second in OCAA all-time scoring with 79 career goals. Only trailing Johnson's four year total of 83. Next up, Fanshawe will face a to be determined opponent in a quarterfinal match at the OCAA Provincial Championship. The event is being hosted by Seneca College from October 25-27.
