(London, Ontario) – The #6 nationally ranked Falcons Women's Soccer team (9-0) remained undefeated with a 4-1 win on Wednesday evening over the Niagara Knights (6-3). Fanshawe has won the OCAA West Division title and claimed a spot in the OCAA Provincial Championships at Seneca from October 25-27.

The Knights arrived ready to play, slipping one by the Falcons keeper in the 4th minute of play. Fanshawe responded in the 27th minute when Jade Kovacevic (Acton, ON) split a pair of Niagara defenders and had a beautiful strike to the top left corner of the net. The Falcons took the lead seven minutes later on a second goal by Kovacevic. At the half, the score remained 2-1 for the home team.

Fanshawe took control in the second half, maintaining the majority of the possession. Kovacevic would score her third goal of the match in the 69th minute. London native Selena Roberts would then net her first goal of the season off of a beautiful ball from teammate Nicole Nielsen (London, ON). The Falcons outshot the Knights 29-4 in the game and went on to win 4-1.

With 28 goals, Kovacevic tied the OCAA record for goals scored in a single season set by Cambrian's Tiffany Johnson in 2016. She also has 77 career OCAA goals and sits second in OCAA all-time scoring, only behind Johnson (2014-17) with 83. The Falcons have one regular season game remaining on Saturday, October 13 at home. Fanshawe will take on the Redeemer Royals (2-5-2) at 12pm.
