(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe Athletics announced today the return of Women's Soccer standout Jade Kovacevic (Georgetown, ON) to the playing roster for the 2018-19 season.

Kovacevic currently holds the Fanshawe Career Scoring record with 49 goals in only two seasons. During her time playing for the Falcons in 2015 and 2016, Kovacevic averaged an impressive 2.5 goals per game and set numerous records including most goals in a single game (6) and most goals in a season (26). Kovacevic is a two-time CCAA All-Canadian and OCAA Player of the Year. She was also Fanshawe's Female Athlete of the Year in 2015-16.

Along with having a successful Fanshawe career, Kovacevic is also the leader of the FC London Women's team. Kovacevic led FC London to an undefeated regular season this year, as well as a League1 Ontario Cup Championship in 2017. In 2017, she also scored a league record 40 goals during the regular season. Kovacevic is a two-time League1 Ontario Women's MVP, and has been the Golden Boot winner for the past three seasons.

In addition to Kovacevic, Fanshawe Women's Soccer Head Coach Mike Marcoccia has a strong recruiting class to join a number of returning veterans, "I am very confident that we have a strong squad on paper this season; however that means nothing until the results come". Key returning players include FC London's Chelsea Zavitz (London, ON) and Alexis Clements (London, ON). Joining them is local striker Nicole Nielsen and goalkeeper Breanne Carreiro. The Women's Soccer squad will make their debut at home on Saturday, September 8 against the Lambton Lions at 12pm.
