(London, Ontario) – On Saturday night, the Falcons Women's Basketball squad (19-1) earned a 74-57 victory over the Niagara Knights (11-9). The team honoured their graduating student-athletes as it was the last regular season home game.

Fanshawe got on the board with a midrange jumper from Claire Dechet (Sarnia, ON). Laura Vere (Stratford, ON) then found an open Kaleigh Morris (London, ON) for a layup. A strong drive from fifth-year forward Maddy Kielar (Newmarket, ON) gave the Falcons a 23-15 lead after the first frame.

In the second quarter, the home team picked up the defensive intensity with back-to-back steals from Chuot Angou (London, ON) and Ashley Galloway (Markham, ON). Mary Ingribelli (St. Catherine's ON) then knocked down a triple to extend Fanshawe's lead to 42-24 after the first 20 minutes.

Sydney Kendellen (London, ON) did a nice job finding open teammates in the third quarter, recording three assists for the Falcons. Niagara worked hard to cut into Fanshawe's lead but a pair of jump shots from Natalie Warren (London, ON) kept the red and white on top. Going into the fourth frame, the score was 57-39 for the Birds.

Warren continued to be the sharp shooter in the final quarter, hitting a shot from behind the arc to get the home crowd on their feet. Angou added five points of her own in the quarter and the Falcons went on to win the game 74-57. Angou, Warren and Ingribelli were all in double figures for Fanshawe with 16, 12 and 10 points respectively. Vere grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and added 7 points and 5 assists.

The 2018-19 Falcons set several Fanshawe Women's Basketball single-season team records including; wins (19), points scored (1627), field goal percentage (42.7), free throw percentage (70.3), made field goals (646), made 3-pointers (143), assists (425) and rebounds (1030).
